Sussex-based football club, Littlehampton Town FC has received a mobile defibrillator and agreed a sponsorship with local five-star housebuilder, Cala Homes.

Cala, which is building its Cresswell Park development in Angmering, teamed up with the club, which currently plays in the Arun & Chichester Youth Football League, to provide the lifesaving equipment, and donated £400 to become the team’s kit sponsor for the next two years.

In England alone, the Ambulance Service attempts resuscitation in around 30,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests every year, with 80% of these occurring at home.

If used within three-five minutes of cardiac arrest, a defibrillator can increase the chance of survival from 6% to 74%.

The equipment is therefore invaluable to those exercising within the football club and the wider community to depend on if needed.

James Ray, Manager at Littlehampton Town FC, said: “The generous donation from Cala Homes has been incredibly appreciated by club members, fans and the wider community. Our players and fans are our number one priority and we are extremely grateful to Cala for providing us with this life saving equipment, helping us keep them as safe as possible, if the worst was to happen. On top of this, Cala’s sponsorship will ensure we can keep the club running smoothly, and we’re thrilled to have secured this partnership for the next two years.”

Nicki Dennis, Sales and Marketing Director at Cala Homes South Home Counties, added: “We are delighted to have been able to contribute and give back to this wonderful community, which we have now become part of. At Cala, we are committed to supporting the communities in which we build with the hope we can benefit the wider neighbourhood and leave a lasting legacy for years to come. While we hope the defibrillator never has to be used, it is an invaluable piece of equipment that every neighbourhood should have, and we hope it gives peace of mind to players and fans that the defibrillator is there, should it ever be needed.”

Cala Homes’ Cresswell Park development on Roundstone Lane in Angmering is a collection of contemporary two to five bedroom homes, designed with light and spacious interiors, offering green, leafy surroundings.

The development has proven popular to date, with over 90% of the homes having been snapped up by local purchasers, who are attracted to the development’s close proximity to the coast, and quality of local education and transport links.
