Cala Homes is offering serving personnel the perfect opportunity to make their move to a brand new home at Carmel Meadows or Hopefield Grange, right on the doorstep of RAF Benson.

The popular developments are home to a number of service personnel that are located at RAF Benson. Reflecting on their move to Hopefield Grange, one service person said: “As soon as we saw the plans for Cala’s new homes in Benson, we knew it was the right place for us to raise our family. Everything about the development was ideal for what we were looking for; from the close proximity to the local nursery and the RAF base, to the open green spaces and playing fields. The house itself was perfect, with plenty of room both in and outdoors, and a good sized garden for our son to play in.

“Living on the base was practical, but my wife and I were keen to get onto the property ladder. We were able to take advantage of the Armed Forces Discount that Cala offers, and – together with the Help to Buy scheme – we are now living in our ideal home.”

As part of Cala's award-winning customer service, Cala Homes offers a discount for Armed Services personnel at a selection of developments across the region, including Hopefield Grange and Carmel Meadows. The Armed Forces Discount includes a concession of 1.5% on the purchase of a new Cala home, along with a £1,000 contribution towards legal fees if using one of Cala’s recommended solicitors. It is available for both serving and retired members of the Regular or Reserve UK Armed Forces, or those that have passed Phase One of training.

What’s more, the discount can be used in conjunction with the Government-backed Forces Help to Buy Scheme (FHTB).This scheme was launched in April 2014, initially as a three-year pilot scheme, and has now been extended to the end of December 2022 to address the low rate of home ownership within the armed forces.

FHTB enables service personnel to borrow by way of an advance, up to half of their annual salary (up to a maximum of £25,000) and is intended to assist towards the balance of the purchase price - taking into account, for example, deposit, legal, surveyors, land registration and estate agent fees.

Stala Thomson, sales and marketing director for Cala Homes Chiltern, said: “We are honoured to be able to provide the Armed Forces discount to serving and retired personnel, especially those based at RAF Benson, just around the corner from our Hopefield Grange and Carmel Meadows developments.

“It’s a perfect time to buy at these developments where new communities are thriving. Spoiled for choice, phase two at Hopefield Grange includes an array of different housetypes, ideal for a variety of purchasers; families in particular will be well catered for in terms of green spaces and designated areas for outdoor leisure activity, with a skate park and nature reserve due to be released next year. Meanwhile, Carmel Meadows offers a number of stunning four-bedroom homes, a number of which offer flexible living spaces through its three-storey design.”

“We’d really encourage house hunters to view the homes available at the development and enquire more into the Armed Forces discount and FHTB. With a number of homes ready for immediate occupation, you could be moving sooner than you think.”
