When Lucy Key joined Cala, she didn’t know that just a few years later she’d find her dream home right there at the development where she works.

Now, both Lucy’s home and office are located at the same development, after the Senior Sales Consultant for our Cala South Home Counties team realised the home and lifestyle on offer at our Shopwyke Lakes development in Chichester was perfect for her and her family.

Lucy said: “It’s funny, joining the team at Cala three years ago, I didn’t think I’d be buying one of the homes I’d be selling. But once I got to see the high quality of the homes being built, experience the neighbourhood and the many benefits offered by the location, I knew I wanted to live at Shopwyke Lakes.

“Here, you are buying more than just a home – you’re buying into a whole new community and lifestyle.”

Lucy spent her earlier years living in surrounding areas such as Midhurst but began to feel isolated by rural locations. She wanted somewhere close to local shops and excellent schools, as well as somewhere that would allow her to socialise easily, which is why she made her move to Chichester last year.

She continues: ““The cultural draw of the city was definitely a key selling factor for me, and I’m taking full advantage of it now – from the arts and music festivals, to the museums and galleries, it’s wonderful to be close to the buzz post-lockdown.

“Living at Shopwyke Lakes eliminates all the issues I had previously faced. I used to be a 15-minute drive from a supermarket and would have to really consider how I was travelling if going out anywhere, as I couldn’t always drive home. Now I’m more central and just a mile away from Chichester city centre, everything is closer. But it still feels calm and spacious.

“The development itself is lakeside and is just a short drive away from the beach, so you have the benefits of a city and coastal lifestyle all in one. It’s a great place to walk dogs.”

Lucy opted for the four-bedroom Kearfield house type and space was key to her decision, allowing her family to live together with plenty of room for all.

She said: “When house hunting, having our own sense of space was a massive factor for my family. Living with my mum and daughter, having two ensuite bedrooms means that we can all have our own space within the house without it feeling too crowded.  The additional fourth bedroom is an extra room we couldn’t live without, as we use it as a study or craft room and we love the flexibility it provides. The potential in the home is endless.

“The quality of the build is clear to see and that was important for me, too. Being part of the team at Cala helped as I knew how much pride and hard work goes into the homebuilding process from start to finish from the whole project team.”

Having moved in at the end last year, Lucy and her family now feel very much at home in Shopwyke Lakes, building a life amongst their neighbours.

Lucy continued: “There is a real sense of community at the development. The people are friendly, and you feel that everyone has your back. A party was organised last Christmas for the local residents and there’s another being organised for the Summer – those are the little things where you feel like people go the extra mile  to grow and live in an engaging community with their neighbours.”
