Long-time Aberdeen resident, Nicola Reid, had plans to upsize from her self-contained two-bedroom apartment to a larger house with more space.

Having grown up in Peterculter, she was familiar with the local area, so when a close friend read online about local development Murtle Den Park at Oldfold Village, she immediately shared it with Nicola, knowing it was exactly what she was looking for.

Nicola quickly arranged a viewing of The Arisaig three-bedroom show home in Milltimber, where she instantly fell in love with the house style, surroundings, and the Cala service.

“When I made the decision to move, I knew that I wanted a new build home which was brand new and where I could add my own touch. At the show home viewing, the wonderful sales team informed me that when buying off-plan with Cala, I would be able to choose my own kitchen and bathrooms selections, which really appealed to me. I personally chose the flooring and tiles in these areas of the house, so they are exactly to my taste”.

Nicola is also enjoying the energy-efficient and cost-effective benefits of having a new build home:

“I’ve definitely noticed savings on energy with my new home. I have solar panels and the house is much more insulated and energy efficient, so my electric running costs are significantly lower compared to my previous apartment, even though it was much smaller than my new three-bedroom house.”

Nicola also particularly liked the development’s proximity to Aberdeen’s bustling city centre, whilst still being close to the peaceful countryside, with stunning views across lower Deeside.

“I work near Edinburgh, so it was important for me to move somewhere that made the commute easy. Murtle Den Park is just two minutes from the Aberdeen bypass, in fact, it was when driving past the development on this road that I first noticed it in the works. When I’m not in the office I’m working remotely, so I wanted an extra room that I could transform into my home office, whilst still having an extra bedroom for guests to stay in.”

“My home office has so much extra space, I’ve even turned the other half of the room into my walk-in wardrobe. The whole house is really spacious, and when I do have guests over, I can extend the open plan kitchen and living room into the garden with the double patio doors.”

The Project Controls Manager first visited the show home in June 2022, and went ahead with an off-plan reservation little over a month later. She was given the keys to her new home in December, with the whole process from first viewing to moving in taking only six months.

“The team were incredibly helpful from start to finish, I was even allowed to visit my soon-to-be home during the build, so it was amazing to see the ongoing process first hand. Even now that I’ve moved in, the sales team have continued to check in with me and see how I’m getting on.”

Murtle Den Park at Oldfold Village is the popular third phase of our Milltimber development. Surrounded by stunning open green spaces, Oldfold Village offers the best of both worlds with close city centre proximity, amid nature.
