Our new development, Farendon Fields in Weston Turville is only a few miles away. So, we’ve taken a look at some of the key reasons that make Aylesbury the place to be.
Shopping, History and Culture
Located north of the Chiltern Hills, Aylesbury holds the thrill of a city but on a slightly smaller scale. It’s an area with a population of over 90,000 people that is full to the brim with history and has a fantastic selection of things to do.
From the Roald Dahl Children’s Gallery and Discover Bucks Museum, to a bustling shopping centre and weekly local markets that are perfect for vintage goods, handmade crafts and freshly cooked snacks, Aylesbury has something for everyone. It’s teaming with culture and there is never a dull moment (and you’re only ever a stone’s throw away from Weston Turville).
For any theatre fans, the filming of the highly anticipated film, Wicked, took place at the Sky Studios Elstree in Borehamwood, and on location at a large purpose-built set at Ivinghoe, which is only 10 miles from Aylesbury in the Buckinghamshire countryside.
The Great Outdoors
One of the best parts about living close to Aylesbury is that you will have easy access to a spectacular natural beauty – the Chiltern Hills. A stunning landscape that holds more than one purpose.
Whether you’re there to explore, wind down, take a graceful walk or an energetic run, what better way to do it than in an area of outstanding natural beauty?
Urban Jungle
If you need to be within the town’s limits, you also have access to a great assortment of outdoor activities to indulge in.
Head out on a family walk in Vale Park, or indulge in good food by popping to one of the local food markets in the town centre, before settling down in the park’s open picnic area amidst stunning views.
Aylesbury also features a scenic canal basin, perfect for a stroll to clear the mind and admire the longboats either alone or with your pooch. And of course, being one of the UK’s six national cycling demonstration towns (part of the national initiative to promote cycling), Aylesbury also has seamless cycle routes whilst holding 250 cycle parking stands that are free of charge, ideal for those want to explore the town.
Transport Links
A huge factor that makes an area great is its transport links, making it simple to access other major cities, whether it be for business or pleasure – or both.
Not only are the local bus routes easy to navigate, but should your destination be slightly further away, Aylesbury holds routes into major cities such as London, Milton Keynes and Birmingham with easy links straight to the M25 and M40.
And train services are excellent too – Chiltern Railways travel straight from London Marylebone Station into Aylesbury Station within an hour, and it’s worth mentioning that all of Aylesbury’s stations and car parks are not only easy to find, but accessible to all, with step free access included.
Education
For families, an important part of moving somewhere new is the quality of education. Fortunately, your new home in Aylesbury will put you within reach of a number of excellent schools.
The Aylesbury Grammar School, Sir Henry Floyd Grammar School and The Aylesbury Vale Academy School offer a selection of secondary schools close to the centre of Aylesbury that have been given ‘outstanding’ Ofsted ratings. And for younger children, there are a number of excellent primary schools located within a few of miles of Farendon Fields, giving your children an education you can trust.
