Blackwater Estuary Nature Reserve

Blackwater Estuary Nature Reserve is located on the estuary of the River Blackwater between Maldon and West Mersea in Essex.

It is a 5,538-hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), Ramsar Wetland of International Importance and Special Protection Area it has an endless amount of scenic Essex walking trails and is a great place to get a real sense of coastal wilderness.

The National Reserve is also home to the Tollesbury Wick Marshes, which boasts abundant marshes with a wonderful diversity of species, such as Clouded Yellow butterflies, Brent Geese, Marsh Harriers, Field Voles and Pygmy Shrews.

This year’s show includes the outdoor plant village, food and drinks pavilion, and a ‘Home and Country’ pavilion filled with original handmade giftware, jewellery and much more.

The National Flower Show will be open from 9am – 5pm at Hylands House, Chelmsford from Friday 17th to Sunday 19th of May 2024.
