Sophie and Callum, a young couple in their late twenties, were looking to upsize to a larger home when they decided to make the move to Cala Homes North Home Counties (NHC) development, Hampton Lakes.
After purchasing their first home together at Cala’s The Mallards development in Hampton Vale Peterborough in 2017, they decided it was time to change, seeking a more spacious, family-sized home.
Sophie, who works as an administrative manager in Milton Keynes, and Callum, a self-employed window fitter, felt confident about choosing to buy a new-build home with Cala Homes again after having had a positive experience with their first home.
Sophie said: “Our first home was built by Cala Homes at the Mallards development, and we absolutely loved it but felt it was time to move into a bigger home. When we heard about Cala’s new Peterborough development through local word-of-mouth, we knew we had to check it out and immediately booked a viewing.
“We wouldn’t have bought from anyone else,” Sophie added. “Cala Homes just ticks all the boxes for us – from the high-quality build to the exceptional customer service.”
Sophie and Callum had bought their previous Cala home off-plan and purchased their current home when it was in the early stages of construction. Sophie said: “We reserved our new home when we could just see its foundations but as we had such a good experience buying our first Cala home off-plan, we knew that it would be completed perfectly as described.”
The couple, who live with their two dogs, Wilson and Murphy, were drawn to the spacious four-bedroom semi-detached Holme house type. The home provided everything they needed, with ample living space and a well-thought-out design.
Sophie explained: “We love the downstairs open-plan living area, it’s perfect for entertaining, but we also have a separate living room, so it’s perfect for when we want a bit more privacy.
The kitchen and dining area are just beautiful – so bright and airy, thanks to the Velux windows and French doors. The garden is a great size too for our dogs to play in and the parking spaces are very convenient. Our home is incredibly spacious, and there’s plenty of storage, which was really important for us.”
Location was another key factor in their decision to move to Hampton Lakes. Sophie elaborated: “The location is unbeatable. We’re close to nature but still within easy reach of the city and motorways. There’s so much to do here, and the community has a great feel to it. We couldn’t imagine living anywhere else.”
The couple's experience with Cala Homes’ sales team made the sales process very smooth. Sophie recalled, “The team made it so easy for us to buy our new home. Coralie supported us throughout the entire process of purchasing our first Cala home, and she was there for us again this time around as well, and her support was invaluable.”
The couple’s previous experience with Cala Homes made them confident in their decision to upsize with the developer. Sophie continued, “We were able to sell our old home in just a week, which allowed us to reserve and view our new house on the same day.”
For both purchases, Sophie and Callum used Cala’s recommended solicitors. Sophie said: “We used the solicitors Cala recommended when we bought our first home. They were incredibly helpful and professional, so we decided to use them again for this purchase, and they’ve been just as great this time around.”
Now fully settled into their new home, Sophie, Callum, and their two dogs are enjoying the space and community at Hampton Lakes. “We’ve got plenty of room to grow into,” Sophie said. “We love how it’s close to the countryside but still has easy access to city life. Our new home feels perfect for the next stage of our lives, and we couldn’t be happier with our decision.”
