Kirkton Farm, Cardross

Planning appeal submitted

Cala Homes (West) continues to promote the delivery of the land at Kirkton Farm in Cardross that is allocated for housing development by Argyll and Bute Council.

Cala is still committed to building 118 much needed homes, ranging from one-bedroom cottage flats to five-bedroom family homes, which includes 25% for Dunbritton Housing Association, at the site on the northern edge of the town between Darleith Road and Barrs Road.

The new development, Darleigh Meadows, will provide dedicated on-site parking for homeowners and guests, as well as generous provision of high quality landscaping and open space - including a village green and play park. The landscaping and green spaces on the site will help to improve local biodiversity for residents and the wider community to enjoy.

Cala is committed to creating sustainable developments that serve the needs of homebuyers and provide local benefit through employment, council tax contributions and economic value.

In addition to this, as part of our Community Pledge initiative, Cala will seek to work with local charities and organisations to address genuine local needs within the Cardross community through bespoke projects, such as donations, volunteering time, activities, delivering school programmes and much more. Ongoing Updates - April 2025

Our planning application (Reference 24/02193/PP) made to Argyll & Bute Council to amend the wording of planning condition 4 of planning permission in principle reference 23/00145/PP was approved on 20 March 2024.  This change updates the drawings referenced within the condition to ensure that the road improvements required by the condition are aligned with Council’s aspirations.

Cala’s planning appeal (Reference PPA-130-2093) to the Planning and Environmental Appeals Division (DPEA) of the Scottish Government on 07 January 2025.  This was made against the refusal by Argyll & Bute Council of our planning application for the approval of matters specified in condition (AMSC) reference 23/00144/AMSC on 08 October 2024. The DPEA Reporter allowed the appeal and granted planning permission on 31 March 2025.

Cala are delighted with this positive decision, and we continue our work with Argyll & Bute Council to secure the remaining necessary consents to facilitate this much needed housing development.

We are currently targeting the start of the enabling works in Autumn 2025, with first residents welcomed late 2026/early 2027.
