Cala's Community Pledge

We are committed to bringing added value and meaningful benefit to the communities in which we build, not just through the homes we create, but by investing and enhancing in the very essence of what brings a local community together. We want to listen, take action and make a difference.

To reflect our commitment to our communities over the lifecycle of our developments, we have introduced our Community Pledge. Our Pledges bring together a host of bespoke measures for each local community including activities, donations, initiatives, volunteering drives and much more.

Each Pledge will start from the conception of the development, right through to the last resident picking up the keys to their new home – and everything will be done in collaboration with the communities we seek to support, to make sure we address genuine local needs.

Our Pledges will encompass key core activity, including:

Community Pledge in Action

Hear from our community partners

Sir Gerald Archer, founder of the Chatter Bus:

“Prior to us starting the Chatter Bus, we saw a real transport poverty in the area. Now, we’ve seen a huge response from locals and passenger numbers are at their highest since we began. We’re also called the Chatter Bus service for a reason; we’ll always listen to what the community needs from our service. Whether it’s lending a helping hand to someone unable to get on the bus easily or speaking to parents and updating our bus timetable during exam season – we’ll do whatever we can as we’re very much a local service for our community. We’re so grateful to donations such as Cala’s as we help support our community.”

Chatter Bus is a rural charity bus service in Cobham and Oxshott which received a £2000 donation as part of the Community Pledge for Cala’s Treetops, Oxshott development, enabling the service to operate for the rest of the year and extend its route.

Keith Giblett, Chair of Queensferry and District Community Council:

“Cala’s support is invaluable and of tremendous benefit to the many groups which make Queensferry the caring community it is. Cala has already helped with a number of community engagement projects to date, including supporting local families at risk due to the cost of living crisis over Christmas through the Ferry Elves project, providing new football strips for pupils at Echline Primary School and, more recently, working with local Green Ferry volunteers to create the new community orchard at Hawthorn Bank. The development of the new South Queensferry Community Pledge will ensure this support continues for the benefit of people living here for years to come.”

Cala’s East of Scotland team has consulted extensively with Queensferry and District Community Council to shape the Pledge for South Queensferry.
